GREAT HORNED OWL

Great Horned Owls can be found in Wisconsin in dense forests and woodlots, specifically coniferous forests. These owls are very aggressive when it comes to hunting for their prey. They hunt a variety of small mammals including skunks, rabbits, and even hawks or geese. They nest in the northern parts of Wisconsin in early May. They find other old nests to live in from other big prey birds like eagles and hawks since they build nests very high into the tops of trees. This allows their young when born to be high up away from predators.
