WILSON'S SNIPE

The Wilson's Snipe is a shore bird related to the Sandpiper. It flies in a zigzag pattern living in areas of marshes and bogs. It eats insects and earth worms that live underground or in the shallow waters. The Wilson's Snipe's long, thin beak helps the bird peck deep down into the swampy soils to reach the insects. Their eyes are set farther back on their head than most birds, allowing the Wilson's Snipe to see just as well in the front as the back and the sides. This allows the bird to see a nearby predator almost in any direction. This shore bird is also very fast in flight. It can reach up to the speed of around 60 miles per hour.
